News

Netflix is testing pre-roll and post-roll ads on some devices, but the ads are only for other Netflix content. One of my favorite things about Netflix and HBO Go is their lack of ads, but I don't mind when HBO uses pre-roll spots to advertise other HBO content. Hopefully Netflix isn't testing this as a way to generate more revenue to keep up with the growing costs of acquiring and creating exclusive content.

Showtime will be launching a standalone streaming service for $11 per month to compete with HBO Now. It will debut on July 12th on the Apple TV and apps for Apple devices.
